Planning a theme party for your:

Kids love to party too….

…..and they know exactly how to do it. We’ve done heaps of school discos, mostly for the kids to celebrate the end of a term, and they’re great! We regularly look after about a dozen schools in the Wellington region, for years 1 to 8.

We know schools don’t have a corporate-sized budget for an end of term party so we can work out a package that’s reasonably priced, but still gets you all the fun lighting effects and a smoke machine (but only if it won’t set off the alarms). We’ve found that kids like the look as well the sound of their music.

Miraculously, kids know the latest music before anyone else does and we do our best to stay as “with it” as they are. Most of the time we’ve got what they want, even when old people haven’t heard it on the radio yet.

School disco prices vary depending on the day of the week, venue and party duration, but it’s money well spent for teachers and parents to have a DJ in charge of the entertaining for a change. Some schools choose to have their disco on a Monday through to Thursday and this helps keep the price down too. Larger schools have staggered their discos too, so the younger and older age groups can mingle better and they can be more easily managed. Competitions with small prizes can also help to get them all involved.

Call us now to discuss a price for your school disco or DJ, but remember you won’t be the only school with an end of term disco to arrange so be in quick!

Unwelcome lyrics & themes

Some recent releases haven’t been appropriate for playing at school discos. While we can’t stop them being played on the radio, I won’t play them at home when my kids are in earshot and I won’t play them to an under-16 audience either. You won’t find songs with violent, sexual or offensive lyrics or themes at a Soundwave school disco.
